Awakening in Boston
The Weathered Binding
On Salem Street in Charlestown, this 19th century storefront sits on a steep incline leading down to mainstreet. Its large glass pane windows and wooden facade bear their age well reminiscent of time when craftsmanship was and carpentry were held in high regard. Above the threshold a worn sign, in desperate need of repainting, hangs from a post listing the storefront as the Weathered Binding.
The interior has checkered tile floor at the entrance which quickly transitions to a worn wooden flooring. The walls are obscured by wall to wall book shelves, stacks of books on small tables, books on every possible surface other than a few tattered chairs. The bookshelves themselves form a kind of maze leading further into the recesses of the store. The books themselves are mostly old and loved within in an inch of their lives, with aging yellow pages, and the scent of decaying paper.
